The Coalition was formed in late 2004 to provide a unified mechanism for ACVP and STP to solicit and allocate funds to establish new training positions in response to the current and predicted future shortage of well trained veterinary anatomic and clinical pathologists.

In addition to the Coalition's primary mission to fund new training positions, this service is designed to facilitate career advancement opportunities for pathology trainees as well as for established pathologists. The service allows rapid communication of career development opportunities between veterinary pathologists in academia, industry and government, and is in accord with the Coalition's objective to advance training in veterinary pathology.
