Funds are first solicited from private industry for new veterinary pathology training positions (1). After funds are received (2), the Coalition issues a Request for Applications (RFA) to North American training institutions (3) to apply for the new positions (4). Following evaluation of applications by the Coalition Board of Governors, awards are made to the training institutions (5), who then recruit and nominate candidates to fill the new positions, subject to review/approval by the Board of Governors and sponsors. After new Fellows are appointed, an on-going and close interaction is established between trainees, academic and industrial mentors to enhance the training experience (6).
